El  primer chip apareció en el mercado en 1961 de la mano de Jack Kilby  (Texas Instruments). En 1964 algunos ya contenían 32 transistores; en  1965 el chip más complejo del mercado se había desarrollado en Fairchild  (cuna de los fundadores de Intel) y contaba con 64 transistores (un  Pentium III incluye 28 millones). &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;El 18 de julio de 1968, Robert Noyce, Gordon Moore y Andrew Grove crean  la empresa Intel en la que se desarrollan ideas prácticas para la  memoria de semiconductores, una industria recién nacida. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;En un principio, Intel era una modesta empresa formada por 12  científicos en un pequeño local alquilado en Mountain View, que creían  en las posibilidades de la memoria de silicio y apostaron valientemente  por ella.&lt;br /&gt;Falleció el 03/06/1990 en un hospital de Austin ( Estados Unidos), de un ataque cardíaco.
